Steven Botterill, Ph.D. University of Cambridge, is Associate Professor of Italian Studies. He is the author of two books and numerous articles on Dante, as well as several articles on other aspects of medieval Italian literature. He is a two-time elected member of the Council of the Dante Society of America, and was editor of the Society's journal, Dante Studies, from 2003-2008. His teaching covers the spectrum of Italian literature and culture from 1200 to 1500, with occasional forays into the Romantic period and modern poetry. He is completing a book entitled Dante and the Language of Community, and has in mind a long-term project on Dante's theological ethics.
